The aim of this project was to redesign and renovate a tired 1950's house located on Sydney Northern Beaches for a young family. Utilizing the existing footprint of the property, we reworked the interior spaces to create a relaxed and timeless beach house. The concept was driven by the owners passion for sustainable design, facilitating a successful collaboration with specialists in the green building industry. Materials such as recycled Australian hardwood, plantation hoop pine tongue and groove panelling, bamboo flooring, energy efficient lighting, low VOC paints and recycled glass mosaic tiles were used. With an emphasis on vintage, reclaimed, and Australian made furniture the residence has a layered, textural, and layed back feel.
